Just look at this angelic face...
This story begins a few months ago with Hailey REALLY wanting to have short hair. I was a little reluctant so I persuaded her to keep it long. I decided I was going to attempt to pick my battles wisely and if she really wanted this we'd do it. About every week or so she would bring it up and I agreed on the condition that we cut a few inches off first to see if she still wanted it shorter. So I cut about 4 inches off and she still, indeed, wanted it shorter. I told her we would have to go to a salon and have it done if it was going to be above her shoulders so we would have to schedule it. I put it off for awhile then her cousin Reagan and one of her friends got short hair cuts so she began asking again. Yesterday I finally took her to the salon and as we were waiting she looked at me and said she changed her mind, she still wanted her hair long. So basically it all boiled down to my 5 year old wanting to make sure she had her own agency and could make her own choices!
Oh, I LOVE this girl, she is just a ball of fire.
She has started writing me notes when I am on the phone or if she has gotten in trouble that read "Mom I don't like you when you are mean To Mom From Hailey"
But I also have to mention that she continues to give me mother's day presents on a regular basis. I also get several notes that say "mom I love you" and my favorite part- "I am with you"-like I could ever forget!
3 want to talk about it:
Wow that's crazy - I thought there was going to be a picture of her with short hair at the end of that story! How funny!!
I feel your pain Kim! I have 2 just like her!
I thought there might be a short hair picture at the end...Gracie did the same thing only she followed through! I love the ease of not having to fix her hair, but I'll admit I miss it longer.
I love to see what you've been up to!
